FEED YOUR NEIGHBOR

The Pawling Farmers Market (PFM) assists our neighbors to purchase fresh food at the weekly markets through two programs:

1. Our privately funded Feed Your Neighbor program (FYN), and

2. Government benefits programs:  SNAP EBT, eWIC, Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks and NYS Fresh Connect Checks (FCC).

PFM also is a partner of the Pawling Resource Center's PRC Fresh program which makes farm fresh food available to PRC clients during the PFM market season.  PFM organizes and sells fresh vegetables, fruit and food products to the PRC at wholesale prices weekly.

If you are struggling to put fresh food on the table, contact the Pawling Resource Center to see if you are eligible for a free PFM program card to get free PFM Tokens each week at the market. You also can use your SNAP EBT card at the market and receive free FCC checks to double your SNAP benefits used at the farmers market, up to a $50 weekly maximum.

Each $20 of PFM Tokens buys $20 of fresh food at the Pawling Farmers Market.  Using $20 in SNAP benefits gives you an additional $20 in free FCC checks.

FYN program cards are distributed to eligible community members by the Pawling Resource Center.  PFM Tokens are available weekly with a Farmers Market Program Card at the PFM table at the farmers market.  FCC checks are available at the market table weekly when you use your SNAP EBT card.

About the Feed Your Neighbor Program

In the spirit of positive community engagement, the Pawling Farmers Market (PFM) operates a program called “Feed Your Neighbor” (“FYN”).  This program is privately funded by the Pawling Community Foundation, local businesses, charities and individuals to get local, fresh, healthy food and food products into the baskets of our neighbors in need.

The FYN program provides financially eligible Pawling and Holmes residents with PFM program cards which can be used at the farmers market to get PFM Tokens. PFM Tokens are like cash and can be redeemed at any food vendor at the market on a dollar for dollar basis. Program cards are distributed by the Pawling Resource Center.   The amount of the weekly distributions depends upon our fundraising. Market customers with PFM Program Cards received between $15 and $20 in PFM Tokens each week at the PFM market table in 2024 and 2025. Flyers about the FYN program are available at the Pawling Resource Center and the PFM Market Table.

The FYN program supplements and does not replace government benefits - SNAP, eWIC, FMNP or FCC.  SNAP, eWIC and FMNP customers can also receive FYN benefits.

About Our Government Benefit Program

PFM and eligible vendors also participate in the New York State Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP).  This program generally provides $25 in FMNP vouchers to eligible residents who can apply those vouchers to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables only from participating vendors.

PFM accepts SNAP EBT and eWIC cards and distributes NYS Fresh Connect Checks to SNAP customers up to the $50 weekly maximum.  SNAP tokens and FCC checks are treated as cash and can be used to purchase food and food products at PFM vendors.

The more money we raise as a community, the more food-insecure neighbors we can feed!

Our Community Partnership

In 2026, PFM is partnering with the new Pawling Resource Center "PRC Fresh" program to sell fresh fruit, vegetables and other food products at wholesale prices to the PRC for delivery to its clients. PFM is providing all the operational support to collect, deliver and store the food at the PRC each week.  Funding for the PRC Fresh program is provided by a generous grant to the PRC from the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley.
